Shred

If you've been following my blog for any amount of time, you may know that I'm calling myself a runner now. It's not like I run marathons or anything... in fact, I find myself giggling wildly whenever anybody assumes that it's "marathons" that I run when they hear me talk about my running habits. In reality, my runs are just another form of therapy - I can get some aggression and energy out while I use my poor, loving running buddy as my personal therapist, and then return the favor. She and I have shared our love for one another on numerous occassions - so it's nice to know that the feeling is mutual. We run about 3 times week, and I have also been trying to get to the gym on 2 other days of the week for weight lifting and a half hour on the elliptical.

It feels great to be in shape. It's much easier for me to stick with my workouts now that I've made them into habits. If I miss a day or two I tend to feel a bit groggy, but I know it won't last long - because I'll just jump right back into it when I feel like it. It's great to know that I'm finally appreciating something that has been good for me physically.

But make no mistakes - I'm not a seasoned runner or a hard core workout guru. I am not terribly committed to my goals, and I don't come down too hard on myself for slacking off for a day. I have made the mistake of getting to know some "real" runners, and while I admire their dedication and commitment to marathons and half-marathons, I still call them a "whole 'nother kind of crazy."

So, little blips of motivation are very welcome in my world. Anything that sounds fun enough for me to get off the couch and put the laptop away for a few hours (or just one half hour, hehe) is always invited.

One of the bloggers I've been following for a bout a year now just finished the 30 day shred, and lived to blog all about it. She kept her blog readers updated throughout the whole process and posted pictures of herself. She looks amazing and feels great about it! Her inspiration and motivation came from another blogger who started a group of people on the Shred at the same time.

I thought that was BRILLIANT! I know I would not stick to something that is physically challenging unless I had a friend or two doing it with me to keep me on target and motivated.

So, I played copy-cat, and started my own little group of Shred Heads on facebook! So far, there are five of us on facebook that are committed to shred together. I am SO FREIKING EXCITED about having a community of friends on the shredding journey at the same time as me! If you are interested in shredding with us, go join our facebook group!

Wow~ Good luck! Next year and the following year I am going to try to work my tail feather off (literally). I have a five year goal that I need to live up to (or at least come close).

Ok, I really need to get motivated to work out. When are you starting this.
