Preschool, take two

I feel guilty - like I'm a bad mommy for not posting Julia's back to school picture on her first day. Wait, no that's not why I feel guilty.... I guess I feel guilty because I didn't even take a picture of her on her first day back to (pre)school! Yikes!

I guess a "3rd day of school" picture will suffice tomorrow?

I don't know how this back-to-school thing snuck up on us so quickly. We were having so much fun enjoying the summer that we weren't ready for school to start. I guess that since Julia went to preschool last year, it wasn't as fun to anxiously await the first day of school this year. ...Instead, it was kind treated like a burden that was going to happen no matter how much we tried to deny it. Sorta a "been there, done that, paid the expensive tuition" kind of thing.

Oh well. It's all about Julia anyway, right? Not me, the mom. And let me assure you that Julia certainly looked forward to the start of school. She adores preschool and all things related to being a big girl. She jumped on that school bus on Monday with a great attitude, despite her lack of sleep from a busy, traveling weekend. Then, she jumped off that bus rambling on and on about how they had computer class today and how they'll get to go to computers once a week and how awesome that is.

And, I even got a sweet email from Julia's teacher later on Monday afternoon telling me that Julia did great on her first day. She wasn't nearly as shy as she was last year... the teacher even said that Julia talked to other new teachers and spoke up when it was her turn.

My baby girl is growing up, just like everybody else's kids are, too. But, I didn't feel the need to snap a picture of her in front of the house or anything like that - probably so that I can still live in denial that she'll be in Kindergarten at this time next year.

Come to think of it, her birthday is coming up. Like, in less than a month. And she's going to be FIVE. Holy crap. How did this happen? How did my newborn baby girl turn into a 5 year old overnight?

I guess I'll go dig the camera out now so that as soon as she wakes up from her nap, I can start snapping pictures like the paparazzi at a Hollywood McDonalds.
