FITness

Early last Fall, I saw some cute "swishy" pants at Sams Club. They are perfect daycare pants - they're comfy and go with any old t-shirt.

Being the kinda gal that I am, I grabbed an XL pair and put them in the cart. At Sams club, there are not a lot of places to go try clothes on - so it was a purchase in good faith. I consider myself an XL kinda girl and the pants looked fine as I held them up to myself in the store.

When we got home, I tried them on .... okay, well I tried to try them on. They barely got over my monster thighs. (Monsters because of blub, not muscle.) There was no hope of zipping them up, much less getting them over my big mommy sized hips. Turns out that I was bigger than XL. That made me mad and sad and motivated and inspired all at the same time!

I kept the pants (mostly out of negligence and laziness). It wasn't worth it to me to find the receipt and make the trek across two towns to go back to Sams and wait in the returns line.

The pants have been haunting the back of my closet for almost a whole year now.

.......................

I've been doing pretty good with working out lately - mostly because of that stupid dog I already told you about. Plus, I've been doing some sit ups and leg lifts while working ....and sometimes doing leg lifts while holding a 25 lb toddler on my leg, even. So, my body has been reshaping, which is fun!

Today was the day. I woke up sore from two days of good training - so I figured that if the pants were going to fit sometime, they'd have to fit today. I feel like every muscle in my body is sore, but in such a healthy, good way.

And, you guessed it! The pants fit :) They're not extremely comfortable yet, so after I wore them for about an hour, I decided to change into my old baggy pants instead. There is room to move around in these cute little "swishy pants" that I write about from Sams Club, but no matter how much I work out - no matter how many sits ups or leg lifts I do - no matter how many of Jillian Michael's jumping jacks or how many miles I run - I will always have these big mommy hips. And those pants? Which are XL pants? Were, clearly, not made for mommies.

So - it feels good knowing that I have at least shrunk the thighs. And it's nice to know that the ab flab that used to hang OVER my workout pants now tucks nicely inside. I'll take it. :) Anybody out there want a really cute pair of XL swishy pants from Sam's?
