I'm giving up Facebook for the rest of the year. I have a bazillion reasons for doing this - if you ask me about it, I will give you the run down, but that would require a whole 'nother post.
The funny thing about giving up facebook is that I feel the need to compose status updates in my head, but then have nobody to share them with.
Last night, I texted one of my besties with, "Cleaning up puppy pee is challenging after having several margaritas." To which she appropriately replied, "lmao, are you sure it's puppy pee???" It made me smile. Love that girl!
But, I realize also how un-funny and boring my typical status updates are. I sit here now and wonder what is my status right now .... and the best I can do is something like, "Need to pee but am walking on pins and needles so as to not wake up the family. Sleeping in a Monday is priceless."
Yes, I'm quietly tapping away at the keyboard this morning just to keep myself stationery. I don't want to make a sound!
I'm fully aware of the irony. Husby and I had a "date night" at home last night, with the kiddos. That means we obliged in a few self-made cocktails and rocked out to a few thousand songs on Guitar Hero with the Wii. The kids happily occupied themselves with the millions of toys and activities we keep in the house. They flittered to and from the playroom, their bedrooms, outside with colored chalk, and ultimately (finally) settled in to watch the "show" that was mom and dad. We kept them up late with hopes of them sleeping in late.
So when the puppy, of all people, woke us up at 7am, I felt the need to sneak around. I wanted to take advantage of the quiet, still morning. The puppy was carried, with fear that her little paws would be too much to keep the kiddos slumbering. I snuck around the hallway, careful to avoid the creaky spot of the floor. I settled in on the couch with my laptop, and even this seems too loud for this morning.
It's true - sleeping in on a Monday is priceless.
And now the family is up and I can pee. Wonder what napping on a Monday is like?
