That reminds me

Chelle's comment on my last post reminded me of something!  When we were working to conceive Julia, I decided that maybe God wanted me to get in shape before getting pregnant, and that's about when we got our treadmill.  I started the Couch to 5K program because my dad and my grandma were always big runners, and I loved going to their 5 and 10Ks to cheer them on. I always knew WHY they were runnners (to get and stay healthy, for the rush, for the after-workout glow...) and I knew that I wanted to be a runner, too.  A quick search on the internet lead me to the Cool Running website, where I began C25K.

I made it a whole week and a half before getting pregnant.  I continued to use the treadmill for walking, but didn't do much running. And I never made it past a mile, maybe two.

In fact, I had forgotten all about the Cool Running website until about three years ago, when we were ready for another kiddo in our family.  It just so happens that I started the Couch to 5K again, about a month before Rebecca was conceived.  While pregnant with Rebecca, I didn't exercise at all. I was too scared of losing her, as we lost a pregnancy half a year earlier.  It's safe to say that I completely, totally, 100% forgot all about my desire to be a runner. I was just basking in the glow of motherhood-times-two.

I wrote recently about my running buddy who inspired me to get with it again.  (When I say get with it, I mean getting in shape and becoming a runner... not really getting with the Couch to 5K and pregnancy....  you know, just to clear that up!)  Without her, I know I would have never stuck with the running. I highly recommend you find a buddy if you want to get with a fitness program.

Anyway, all this is just to say that I believe the couch to 5K program from Cool Running causes pregnancy.

I have moved from the couch, and will be running a 5K in a few weeks - but I did not follow the (great, wonderfully planned) C25K program they outline on the website. Therefore, I am now a runner, and I am not pregnant.

When we were trying for Ethan after our loss I totally started exercising and a month later was pregnant. After the first trimester I hiked a little but nothing too crazy.

I am sooo tired and lack the motivation to go out of the house right now. I hope to snap out of this soon in the second trimester. If not I will have to get out there once the baby is born. I so wish we could afford a treadmill, but I got a house this winter instead.

Love reading you story!

Maggie- You are seriously funny!! I laughed out loud reading about how C25K "caused" your pregnancies!!! I myself think there may be another cause for that... LOL!! Val
